Offered for sale is a 2.0L 1989 Ford Sierra Sapphire RS Cosworth manual that has been with the current owner for the last 2 years. Coming with a partial history file, this lot's condition scores an impressive 106 / 135.

The Ford Sierra RS Cosworth was a high-performance version of the Ford Sierra. It was the result of a Ford Motorsport project with the purpose of producing an outright winner for Group A racing in Europe.

Presented here is a second generation 4-door Sierra Sapphire Cosworth, these being assembled in Genk, Belgium, with the UK-built Ford-Cosworth YBB engine.

With more subtle styling than its predecessor, this was an evolution of the original model. Powered by a Cosworth-developed 16-valve turbocharged 2-litre engine that by 1988 as the Sapphire version was able to hit 60mph in 5.8 seconds with a top speed of 151mph.

This fine example was first registered in July 1989, having had just three owners from new. It has always been kept garaged and is said to be in highly original condition with no evidence of any previous repairs or welding. In a currently desirable color of polar white it looks simply stunning. This particular car has featured in a Classic Car Weekly article, being described as 'wonderfully rapid performance Ford, original and unmolested.'

The 76,500 miles on the clock is said to be genuine and is partially backed up by old MOTs. Unfortunately, the early service history was lost when the second owner (for 11 years) moved house. The last owner was a professional garage mechanic, who maintained the car religiously and recently treated it to a new MOT, full service and new cam-belt.

Other recent work of note includes four new BF Goodrich tyres; refurbished alloy wheels; complete new exhaust system; new radiator and water pump; new alternator and battery; new front brake discs and pads, with new BF Goodrich brake hoses; poly-bushed front suspension; professionally installed turbo timer and Clifford alarm / immobilizer; door locks disconnected and guards fitted inside doors for extra security.
