This 1984 Defender 39 was found to be a fiberglass hull, single diesel inboard, single helm station, open deck commercial lobster vessel. The modified-Vee hull has hard chines, a full shallow keel, molded sheer-line splash rail, and fixed wood spray rails. Forward at the bow are raised gunwales with three line chocks and a centerline chrome Sampson post, followed by the foredeck, with a centerline anchor locker/cabin access hatch. Moving aft is the wheelhouse superstructure, with three-panel acrylic windshield and cored fiberglass hardtop, supporting navigation lights, radar reflector, antennas, and a searchlight. Continuing aft around the wheelhouse, with side and aft windows, and a starboard companionway door, and down one step is the open cockpit. Forward in the cockpit is a centerline forward cabin access, followed by the low aluminum engine cover, and a port side trap winch and wash down station. Aft in the cockpit is the enclosed transom, with port side stainless frame trap rack and starboard work platform. The hull sides and transom are white paint with a black boot top stripe, and side lettering forward and at the wheelhouse. There is a full perimeter integral rub-rail with an aluminum strike rail, and aluminum cap rail chafing plates aft. The aft aluminum frame top supports a life raft and deck light.
