Yet, the transitions between the areas are comfortably gentle, with relatively few steps to negotiate. Quality and Efficiency Bayliner incorporated other important features in the 4588’s design. Some examples: Though the saloon runs nearly the full width of the hull, there’s enough of a deck around the house so you can handle mooring lines, if not a fishing rod. The boat’s electricals are all routed to a large control panel, prominently displayed in the pilothouse for easy access. The stringer grid is securely bonded to the hull and fully encapsulated. And the hand-laid fiberglass hull itself is fully cored, to reduce weight and increase operating efficiency. And talk about efficiency — the 4588’s twin diesels deliver exceptional fuel economy: nearly one mile per gallon at a cruising speed of 16 to 17 knots.
