JOB TITLE

ASSISTANT GEOLOGIST

Assistant Geologist required for major construction projects. Working with a Main Contractor on large infrastructure and heavy civil.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Plan detailed field investigations, take samples, assess integrity and analyse material
Visit new sites and supervise site/ground investigations
Collate data and present and compile results
Identify geological factors that will affect engineering works and provide resolutions
Preparation of detailed reports
Oversee the progress of specific and simultaneous contracts
Advise on new site location and selection and make recommendations for proposed site use
Advise on technical problems ie, subsidence, construction material, assist with design of structures, calculations
Liaise with engineering geologists, geotechnical engineers, Consultants, Client and site personnel.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Bachelor’s degree in Earth Science, Geology, Engineering Geology or related disciplines
2 to 4 years’ post-graduate experience
Experience in ground investigation, aerial photograph interpretation, natural terrain assessment, field mapping, geological modeling, interpretation and report writing
Ability to manage time, prioritise tasks and proficient knowledge in geologic modeling
Experience in tunnel assessment with supporting measures would be useful
Fluent in Cantonese and English.
