This amazing hacienda has its origins in the 16th century and its first physical evidence dates back to 1549. It was one of the first major haciendas built by the Spanish conquerors surrounded by over 3.000 acres of land.

Until the late 19th century the hacienda was the largest producer of “pulque”, the fermented juice of the maguey cactus and a form of today's tequila. Most of today's buildings date from the 19th century, some of them going as far back as 1847. Much of the land was confiscated during the 1938 land reform but the main buildings with over 8.000 m2 of construction and 65 ha of land were left intact. After having been left disused in the 50's and 60's and empty the hacienda was lovingly restored by the internationally renowned architect Luis Ortiz Macedo emphasizing the ambiance and spirit of the traditional Mexican culture.

With breathtaking views to the two highest volcanos, Popocatepetl (“ warrior”) and Ixtaccihuatl (“ sleeping beauty”) there are 8 ample suites and 10 deluxe rooms with accommodation for up to 40 guests. All rooms are elegantly decorated in the 18th century style breathing calm and tranquility. The central building includes three large courtyards, the old fermentation room and the original storage room for the barrels of the “pulque” now serving as the dining room, the bakery and the kitchen. The whole hacienda is cobblestoned and offers ideal conditions as a stud farm and an equestrian resort with exiting destinations to historical places giving testimony to Mexico as it was before the Spanish conquerors arrived.
