Bradford 72 for sale in Oregon and built by Master Craftsmen Lars Halvorsen and Sons in NSW Australia for Bradford Yachts. Starship holds a United States Coast Guard twelve passenger Administrative Waiver to the Jones Act - uninspected (meaning she can operate for hire in Washington, Oregon, California and Hawaii.
The vessel is semi displacement hull similar to Navy PT Boat design to be light and efficient. Major engine and reduction gear updates have been completed with only about two hundred hours total of use. The hull speed is estimated at 9.5 knots. She cruises at 8 knots burning approximately 6 gals per hour with a top speed at 12 knots burning approximately 10 gals per hr. Built on a stiff wooden frame with Aluminum I-beam stringers and frame cage in the engine room for engine bearers. The hull is built of Oak stringers, has one inch thick with three quarter and one quarter inch mahogany covered with a laminated coating. Often referred to as Cold Molding - this is not a typical wood construction and is a modern method still similarly used on expensive and light weight boats built today.
This yacht has a huge interior layout on three levels with almost 2000 square feet of deck and living area. She features a gigantic flybridge deck that is 40' long by 19' wide and two davit systems for a dingy or other toys, as well as the setup for a stern dinghy swim platform mount with windlass.
The interior accommodations feature a total of five Staterooms with three staterooms aft situated for six guests and two rooms forward situated for three crew members with separate crew sitting area. The great Lars has five heads and the Master Stateroom, a full beam aft cabin with full size bath tub. The interior is and as pictured, the exterior is due for paint.
She has been refitted with twin 871 Detroit Diesel Engines and gears with has less than 200 hours. She runs out very smooth and is efficient for economical cruising. Completed in 2007.
