Description:

A very unusual property with a bohemian touch, located right in the heart of the Barrio Gotico only a few minute walk from Plaza de Catalunya and the Ramblas. The apartment is located on the third floor of a building from 1917 with a small new lift. It is exposed on two sides, one that gives to Calle Portaferrissa (a beautiful pedestrian street) and the other one to an internal court. The total surface of the apartment is 144 sqm laid out as follows: 3 bedrooms (of which one double and 2 single), one bathroom, a very large lounge of 40 sqm, and an independent kitchen, fully equipped. The kitchen has a sliding door that can be opened to connect to the spacious lounge. The lounge has a mezzanine accessible by a nice staircase. There is the possibility of adding another bathroom (it was planned in the initial distribution). Additional features include: wooden floors, wooden beams on the ceilings, and built-in wardrobes. The building is part of the heritage of Barcelona and has been refurbished recently. It has a communal terrace. ABOUT THE AREA The Barrio Gotico (the Gothic Quarter) is the oldest district of Barcelona. Its oldest parts on a small hill were settled during the reign of Roman emperor Augustus two thousand years ago. The Barrio Gotico stretches from Plaza de Catalunya to Port Vell (the old port). It contains some of the main landmarks of Barcelona: the wonderful Gothic Cathedral, Barcelonaa€™s most famous boulevard, Las Ramblas, with the Liceu opera theatre, the beautiful Boqueria market, and several museums. What still remains from the old Roman Walls can still be seen in the Barrio Gotico side of Via Laietana, which separates the Gothic Quarter from the area of El Born. A lot of picturesque plazas can be found around the narrow lanes of the Barrio Gotico, including the beautiful Placa Reial. Everywhere there are little cafes, bars and restaurants which invite you to take a rest and enjoy a drink on a terrace at any time of the year. From this location it is easy to walk to Plaza de Catalunya, Paseo de Gracia, with its fashionable boutiques and the wonderful Gaudi buildings, and of course the Born, the other part of the old city which includes landmarks like the Museu Picasso and the Church of Santa Maria del Mar, one of the Catalan Gothic masterpieces. The sea and the beach at Barceloneta are also at walking distance. Transport links are excellent with several underground lines, train lines, and buses in the area, including shuttle buses from the airport and an international train station.
