Overview
A fast, competitive 30-foot racer/cruiser engineered to be extremely stable and easy to sail. Refined from proven G&S MORC racers and developed in accordance with MORC rules that allow a competitive medium displacement sailboat with comfortable cruising accommodations. Computer designed \"mathematically fair\" resulting in exceptional stability, excellent pointing ability, and easy handling characteristics. Double spreader masthead rig offers optimum sail control by a small crew, easier and more forgiving for cruising. Emphasis is on windward ability, with large mainsail, but the large masthead rig spinnakers offer excellent off-wind speed as well. Keel and rudder designs are the same as G&S's flat-out racer for excellent performance and control, with an external bolt-on lead keel in a superb hydrofoil shape for lift and steering response. High ballast-to-displacement ratio contributes stability and increased performance in higher wind ranges, with balsa core construction maintaining light weight and critical shape. Efficient deck layout is designed for comfort, safety, and simplicity, with slotted aluminum toe rail, crisp, non-skid surfaces, recessed teak handrails, and all control lines leading aft to a roomy self-bailing cockpit engineered for the optimum in sailing ease and efficiency.
The successful blend of racing and cruising attributes are evident in the functional simplicity of interior spaces. A convertible V-berth/sail locker concept that offers the dual advantages of sail bins easily transformed to traditional V-berth room and comfort. Bringing sleeping accommodations to seven. Complete L-shaped galley. Roomy full-enclosed head with shower. And a bright airiness created by six main cabin windows and a midship ventilation hatch.
There was a time when a sailor had to chose between the easy living of a cruising sailboat or the skin-of-the-teeth excitement of a purebred racer. With 9.1, it's not a choice between fast sailing or comfortable cruising. It's a question of how fast and how far.
