General Description
A popular boat for Sea Ray, the 340 Sundancer (note that an earlier 340 Sundancer was produced from 1984-89) is a good example of why Sea Ray continues to lead the market for mid cabin express boats. Attractively styled and built to high standards, the 340 is a superb entertainment platform with a wide-open interior and a cockpit large enough to accommodate a small crowd.

Actual Condition
It is reported this Sea Ray suffered an engine room fire, while the boat was tied up at its slip, before getting underway. The hull appears to be in good condition for its age with no signs of current impact damage. There's no apparent damage noted or reported to the exterior of the vessel on the port or starboard side, forward cabin or aft cabin. There was no odor present from the fire inside the cabin. The helm showed no signs of fire damage, but some smoke residue is noted.

The 4 rear seat cushions have smoke damage and the starboard side coaming panel is completely burnt. There is smoke residue on the entire aft cockpit and cleaning will be needed to determine if gel coat is stained.

We found there is heavy smoke damage and a large crack off centerline on the engine room hatch. The crack runs at least 2-3 feet aft. There is fire damage to the interior installation and table insert is blown off.

In the engine room, there is damage to the starboard side engine cowling, cowling is burnt and smoke damaged. There is heavy smoke damage to the compartment installation. There is damage to the engine wiring harness, on the starboard side, damage to the main engine starter cables as well as the grounding wires. There is smoke damage to the battery charger, hot water heater, Vacu-pump system, bilge blower hoses, engine hoses and belts.

We suggest removal of the engines in order to inspect the engine compartment in its entirety. There is no apparent physical damage to the generator, no physical damage to the batteries or switches. The wiring shows the fire was electrical in nature; we see no fuel leakage at this time.
