General Condition
Voted by Cruising World magazine as one of the \"40 Best Sailboats of All Time,\" the C&C Landfall 38 was described as \"a strong yet sleek sloop with outstanding sailing characteristics.\" Practical Sailor chose the Landfall 38 as one of nine best affordable cruisers in its article: \"Bargain Voyagers: PS picks a few recession-proof cruisers worthy of sweat equity.\" John Kretschmer in BoatWorks summarizes his review this way: \"The C&C Landfall 38 is being rediscovered by a new generation of cruisers. \"In many ways this stylish design, with its moderate-draft fin keel, balanced rudder, uncluttered lines, and genuine aft cabin, was ahead of its time. It was an early performance cruiser before the performance-cruiser trend caught on.\"
 
Actual Condition
Easily single-handed with control lines to the cockpit, the Landfall 38 is also a great cruiser for a family or one or two couples. It is reported the present owners sailed her the entire coast of Maine and down to Block Island, cruising for weeks at a time, and also participated in local yacht club PHRF races, sometimes winning, and finishing the season in third place in the fleet!
Topanga II is an older boat with a few dings, scratches, and minor flaws, but remains in good condition mechanically and cosmetically. Her owners of the last two decades have simply moved on to other places and pursuits in retirement.
