The Red Herring is a USCG registered 40' J. Simpson Felicity, cutter rigged pilothouse steel boat. She has less than 6' draft and 6'4\" headroom. She has a double chine steel hull, modified fin keel, and skeg-mounted rudder. This custom boat 'Felicity' was designed by J. Simpson, a metal boat designer of the year award winner. Three boats of this design were built. The other two have circumnavigated. This means you are getting a proven bluewater capable boat without the miles and related wear and tear.
The current owners have focused on preparation and maintenance. They pass this on to you with necessary tools, numerous spares, lots of offshore gear including a Hydrovane windvane and hydraulic autopilot. There are builder's manual and most equipment manuals organized alphabetically in folders. The most recent survey was done in October 2017 and the boat has gone through two on the hard refits in December of 2017 and in April of 2018.
This is one amazing boat. Not just the design and construction by the original owner, who was an electrical engineer, but down to the very meticulous maintenance by the current owners. This truly is one of the nicest boats I have seen. I don't use the term turnkey very often, but it sure applies to this yacht. Be sure to click on full specs to see all she has to offer.
