The Cal 2-46 was conceived by Bill Lapworth (designer of the Cal-40 of racing fame to be large and comfortable for world cruising, small enough for a couple to handle, to have gentle motion at sea, shallow draft and a good turn of speed both under sail and power. The end result turned out to be a very well built vessel that filled all of these requirements without compromise.
