Description:

The building where this apartment is located is part of the World National Trust. The basement of the building hosts the oldest Synagogue of Europe (XIII Century). The building is from 1810 and is preserved in good conditions. The property is located on the third floor (the building has no lift, which is very usual in this area). With a total surface of 155 sqm, the apartment is distributed into 5 bedrooms (of which 3 double and two single), one bathroom, one service bathroom, a lounge and independent kitchen. Additional features include a storeroom and French balconies. The flat is offered fully furnished. The property has a lot of light and the windows offer a magnificent view on the old palaces of the Barcelona centre. The apartment is in good conditions. However, with a good refurbishment and a few changes in the distribution, the property would become a magnificent flat in one of the most beautiful areas of the city (and a great investment!). ABOUT THE AREA The Barrio Gotico (the Gothic Quarter) is the oldest district of Barcelona. Its oldest parts on a small hill were settled during the reign of Roman emperor Augustus two thousand years ago. Those days, the Forum Romanum was at the actual location of Pla̤a de Sant Jaume. It marked the centre of the Roman colony of Barcino. Today, Barcelonaa۪s most powerful institutions are still residing on the same square in Barrio Gotico: the municipality of Barcelona (in the Ayuntamiento de Barcelona) and the government of Catalonia (in the Palau de la Generalitat). The Barrio Gotico stretches from Plaza de Catalunya to Port Vell (the old port). It contains some of the main landmarks of Barcelona: the wonderful Gothic Cathedral, Barcelonaa۪s most famous boulevard, Las Ramblas, with the Liceu opera theatre, the beautiful Boqueria market, and several museums. What still remains from the old Roman Walls can still be seen in the Barrio Gotico side of Via Laietana, which separates the gothic quarter from the area of El Born. A lot of picturesque plazas can be found around the narrow lanes of the Barrio Gotico, including the beautiful Placa Reial. Everywhere there are little cafes, bars and restaurants which invite you to take a rest and enjoy a drink on a terrace at any time of the year.
