Location description
Campiglia Marittima is a most beautiful medieval town on the Etruscan Coast. Perched on a hill, dominating the sea and the surrounding countryside, the town is at the heart of an area with old traditions. Here you can find many traces of both the Etruscan and Roman civilizations, and many charming old villages. The old town centre, with its roads and alleys arranged in concentric circles, is inside the old walls.
The geographical position makes Campiglia Marittima, located 300 metres above sea level, particularly privileged due to its proximity to the sea (8km) and the seaside resorts of St. Vincent, the islands of the Tuscan archipelago, Elba, as well as Pisa, Florence and Siena.
There is a thermal spa at the foot of the hill, on which Campiglia is situated.
There are good connections via train and the superstrada Via Aurelia, the old road to Rome which follows the lovely coastline. Main airpiorts nearby are Pisa, Florence and Rome.
There are two excellent golf courses in the vicinity:
Punta Ala Golf Club, next to the sea, and Il Pelagone, close to Gavorrano.
In the untouched Maremma area along the coast, you will find sand-dunes and fantastic beaches. You can relax, sunbathe, rent boats, or take a course in diving.
After a day spent by the sea you can enjoy the Italian night life with typical restaurants, with the genuine Maremma cuisine, and wine bars where you can taste the great wines of Tuscany. Local entertainment venues and events liven up the summer evenings with shows, celebrations and concerts.
