Description:

In a wonderful old 14th Century village in the Maremma area, with an old watch tower, a location favoured by many intellectuals, journalists and artists seeking escape from the daily grind and a different way of living.

Surrounded by vineyards, the village also hides a wonderful secret beauty, a property restored by a talented Italian architect, a designer gem within a historic location.

Originally the house consisted of one huge double-height room where food products were stored. The height of the internal space allowed it to be restored and converted retaining 7 metres of height, yet this beautiful property is not out of place in this village environment, a touch of urban loft living, every part of which has been beautifully thought out and designed, complementing the historic beauty outside.

The house was restored using only old salvaged materials.

Furnished with family heirlooms, vintage items, gilt frames, strange collections of industrial style objects with waxed rust finishes which contrast with the brick and stone of the walls.

The salvaged stone, robust furniture, metal mesh chairs, French settee, fake fur bedcovers, all combine with artistry to create a strong aesthetic impact, bringing together modernity and tradition.

The location is just 23km from the sea and Monte Argentario.

80 sqm

Lower floor

A. Living room with dining area, built-in kitchen, sofa and large fireplace
B. Second living area accessed by 3 steps. Double height.
C. Bathroom next to the second living area
D. Storage cupboard next to entrance door

Upper floor

F. On the mezzanine floor is a bedroom with double bed, and a smaller bedroom with single bed (can be double). Each bedroom has roof windows.
G. On this level there is another bathroom.
H. This floor overlooks the floor below.

The living room is double height and has a large wooden beam crossing it. It would be able to create another mezzanine here if wished, with a further bedroom or a study.

If this were done there is still a further double height living room.

There is no outside space.

Many people in the village have boats in Talamone or just enjoy spending time at the seaside. This property is ideal for a couple with guests or a couple with a child, or someone single.

Some people spend nights in their boats at the coast and in the village instead if the sea is rough.

Pereta is a wonderful village to live, with three excellent restaurants. Robin Harry Stapleton lives there and organises a classical music festival which is held in the main square.

Heating is provided by a heat pump. Electric water heater.
