Maison Balmat is situated in the les Barrats area of Chamonix, just to the south-west of the centre, 1100 metres (12 minute walk) from the town square itself. It is just over 500 metres from the start of the shopping streets, right by the Aiguille du Midi cable car, giving access to the world famous Vallée Blanche.

For access to the slopes, the chalet is very conveniently placed with the main bus stop just 250 metres away. The nearest supermarket is Spar (500 metres) and the main bakery, la Fournil Chamoniard, is a similar distance.
