The House

Ground floor

The main entrance of the house opens onto the hall (8m2), to the right the living room (27m2) with a wood burning stove and an open window on the courtyard. At the end of the entrance hall, stairs and behind a beautiful bathroom (5m2) with WC. To the left of the entrance hall, the dining room (18m2) with large windows on the courtyard in front of the house.

From the dining room a door leads to the kitchen (24m2) equipped with a central island, a door opens onto the terrace in front of the house and then at the back of the kitchen the laundry room (12m2) with a door leading to Outside on a small garden at the back of the house. Another door opens onto a desk (16sqm) opened by French windows on the terrace and from the office a door leads to the barn.

Attached to the house, the barn (140m2) allows to park several cars and leaves a lot of storage space.

In the courtyard, there is also a small annex (35m2) which served as a distillery, with a beautiful still, the annex is fed with water and is ideal to receive friends or family or as a pool house. Inland from the Charente-Maritime is the department of Charente which gains its name from the river that winds it way through the area bordered by lovely villages and market towns. The area offers a more rural lifestyle than its neighbour. The countryside is undulating, scattered with pasture land, sunflowers and offers wide panoramas. Cognac is probably the best known town in Charente, sitting astride the river Charente it is a really interesting place to visit, to enjoy the distilleries, the river and the wonderful restaurants. Buying property in Charente is better value in the north and east of the department.

To the east of Charente is the department of Vienne which is slightly more rural than its neighbour. The river Vienne, along which there are lovely beaches, flows through the department and adds charm to many of the pretty villages along its banks.
