Sucina is a locality of the municipality of Murcia, which also contains the capital city of the Region of Murcia, Murcia City.

The Region of Murcia itself contains 45 different municipalities, each with their own local council, so Sucina falls under the administrative jurisdiction of Murcia municipality. Each municipality is broken down into districts, or localities, each with their own local Mayor, although managed from the municipal government seat, which in this case is in Murcia capital.

The locality of Sucina is on the border with the municipality of San Javier, and borders also with the Murcian localities of Jeronimo y Avileses, Gea y Truyols and Canadas de San Pedro.

It's well connected to the capital city of Murcia, being 29 kilometres from the centre of the city, and the RM-1 is a direct link down to the airport of San Javier and the beaches of the Mar Menor.

The locality is traditionally an agricultural area, dedicated to the cultivation of 'dry crops', its geography including the sierras of Altaona, Escalona and Columbares, although modern agricultural techniques now permit greater diversity of crop production.

Sucina has also gained significance as a 'residential tourism' destination, with the presence of several residential golf urbanisations nearby, due to the flat landscape and ease of access to the regional airport.

Sucina has a long history of occupation dating back to prehistoric times, and also has remains of Iberian and Roman settlements, although the true foundation of a population nucleus dates back to 1744 and the foundation of the Parroquial church of Nuestra Senora del Rosario, which is still in use today. The local fiestas are held in honour of the Virgen del Rosario in October every year, and the town also celebrates Semana Santa ( Easter) with processions.

Sucina has a good range of basic services including Cultural Centre, medical centre and schools, bank, opticians, supermarket as well as a number of hostelry services and shops. The village consists of a mixture of old and new. The church and its square are still at the heart of the village and there are some old houses to be found in the surrounding streets. There are also many newly built houses, and the British influence can be seen in the church square with the cafes which advertise 'fish and chips'.
