* La Baume
La Baume is a village in the vallee D'Aulps 10 minutes from St Jean D'Aulps and 20 minutes from Morzine/Avoriaz. The whole of the Portes du Soleil ski is at your door, so it is easy to choose where to go for each day's skiing. Morzine and Les Gets town centres are only a few minutes up the hill, while the Ardent lift up to Avoriaz is a pleasant drive round Montriond lake. Though the village isn't ski-to-the-door, the sheer volume of skiing accessible makes this pretty unbeatable for the discerning skier. It is also only 20 minutes from Lake Geneva and the spa towns of Thonon and Evian-les-Bains. Geneva airport is less than an hour's drive away. There is a supermarket on the road up to town and a nice selection of shops, rental stores and a bar or two in the nearest town: St Jean d'Aulps.
