Locality: Ghaxaq

The village of Ghaxaq is one of the oldest villages on the island, whose name literally translates to 'delight'. It is mainly a residential village featuring some agricultural area. The Church located in the center of the village is dedicated to the Assumption of Mary, a beautiful baroque building. One of the most interesting finds in the village, is the sea shelled house, a lovely building whose facade is completely covered with seashells. During the village's feasts, Ghaxaq is decorated with artistic statues and vibrant lights. The village is also famous for its carnival which takes place in February every year.
