Western Crete and southern Crete are a paradise for ramblers, mountaineers and nature lovers, but not for luxury lovers. You will find several gorges and plateaus for example (the most famous ones are on the south west coast): the Samaria Gorge, the Aradena Gorge, the Imbros Gorge, the Agia Irini Gorge. The Agia Irini Gorge and the Imbros Gorge can be passed through with children.
