Project and finishes
The building will be rebuilt fully restoring its original form and using original building materials. The external walls will be in sandstone (pietra arenaria) and original salvaged bricks, all stuccoed with historic mortar. The arcaded loggias on the first floor, all covered, will have rounded and bush-hammered columns in pietra serena in a typically Tuscan style. The roofing will be in Roman tiles and coppi (curved tiles) and the chimney pot will be in “old style” salvaged bricks. The outdoor steps which access the first floor and all of the thresholds, will be in pietra serena. The interior ceilings on the ground floor and first floor will have wooden beams and joists which are finished with a water-based light walnut colour stain and sandblasted pianelle (flat tiles). In each sitting room a “traditional” country farmhouse fireplace will be built. An in-wall electrical system will be installed and visible external parts will include ceramic insulators and external electrical cords typical of the original system. The heating system will be independent for each home with lpg powered boilers and radiators. The outdoor paving including footpaths, porticos and loggias, will be in machine-made terracotta tavella (hollow flat tiles). The indoor flooring and bathroom facings have been designed in porcelain stoneware in shapes and sizes adapted to the project but there is the option for the buyer to choose and personalise such finishings.
