LEGAL COUNSEL (CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY)

As a Legal Counsel would you like to play a professional/integral role in an organization for different types/aspects of legal and contractual matters, administering and managing legal matters and safeguarding the organization from legal problems and complications? Are you well versed in all laws governing modern businesses?

Our client is one of the leading Building & Civil contractors not just in Singapore but in Asia too. They have a number of current large scale groundbreaking projects with tenders in place for some of Singapore’s most prestigious upcoming projects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Establishing and executing the legal procedures and structures to minimize risks and improve compliance with laws, regulations and contracts.
• Devise and improve an MIS system for presenting updated information to the management for review and control.
• Evaluating and providing advice on all types of legal documents related to contracts, tenders, leases, licenses, sales, purchases, and real estate etc.
• Collating information and evidences to support management in making corporate, operational and strategic decisions.
• Perusing and analyzing legal information to ascertain the suitability for prosecution action or defense action on lawsuits.
• Handling full spectrum of processes defending the organization in law cases and representing the organization before quasi-judicial bodies of the government.
• Advising on state regulations, tax matters, and legal rights.
• Negotiating and preparing contracts, resolve labor issues, manage legal matters, and handle taxes.
• Providing advice/guidance on business transactions related to internal affairs, directors, executives, stockholders, and corporate relationship with public, including liaison officer’s role for whistleblower’s process.
• All other generic duties/scope of a legal counsel

PRE-REQUISITS:

• A Bachelor’s law degree with specialization in Singapore; corporate and/or commercial law from a recognized university
• Minimum 5 - 10 years of work experience in an MNC (corporate setting) and extensive knowledge of contract and commercial law; with active execution/involvement in assignments related to sound legal counsel
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, analytical, problem solving & leadership skills
• Able to perform well under a dynamic/demanding work environment
• Result-driven individual with good foresight and pleasant personality
