Location

The Villa is located on top of Poggio al Pruno Hill (675m above sea level), within the 1635 hectares Magona Game Reserve, which extends from Bolgheri to Bibbona.

In the beautiful woods within the reserve one can admire a wide variety of scented flowers, edible mushrooms, local fauna as well as choose between 16 different itineraries either on foot, horseback or by mountain bike.

From the villa's garden one can sometimes catch sight of foxes, roe deers, deer, squirrels and birds

La Sassa is a medieval village situated on the peak of a hill, overlooking to the east the river Sterza's valley. The first historical reports are from 1000 a.C. when La Sassa consisted only of a small castle; but the discovery of a large number of Villanovan tombs witnesses that this antique Tuscan village is much older and was probably founded by the Etrurians. From the top of a ponderous construction in the village that was probably part of the retaining wall of the castle, today we can still admire the intact architectural structures of La Sassa. The village today has 60 inhabitatants and is recognized as a destination of exceptional tourist interest, this is also due to the medieval church whose central body is perfectly preserved.

Poggio La Sassa overlooks the village of La Sassa, being positioned 670m above sea level and offers a breathtaking view of the Tuscan archipelago extending as far as Corsica and Sardinia. A wide portion of the Tuscan countryside including the famous avenue connecting Bolgheri to San Guido mentioned in the famous Carducci's lyric can be also viewed from the village.

The two level central body of the villa includes a roof terrace with jacuzzi swimming-pool. The left wing consist of one level and whilst the right has an antique original military tower.

The 80 sqm ground floor is composed of a large dining room and library with a comfortable seating area. A separate kitchen, in typical Tuscan style, offers all modern comforts and services. In addition there are 4 double bedrooms, 3 of which with ensuite bathrooms.

On the first floor there are two double bedrooms plus bathroom with shower and jacuzzi. All upper rooms have access to the 120 sqm roof terrace and jacuzzi which overlooks the valley. The antique tower hosts a double bedroom with bathroom offering total privacy.
