Kolymbari, is a small, quiet fishing village at the foot of the Rodopou peninsula on the island of Crete, a great place to get away and relax if you¢re after for a nice, quiet destination that has been relatively untouched by an overabundance of tourism. The village is about 23 kilometers west of Chania on the way to Kissamos and has frequent bus connections for easy access.

The famous Greek Orthodox Monastery Gonias is a must-see for visitors of this quaint village, with its rust-colored domes. The original monastery, which is used today as the cemetery, dates back to the 13th century and has a rich history. Present buildings, which are in full use, are well-maintained and date back to the 1600s. Other places to see include the beautiful church as well as the harbor.
