Opis:

Rare Sixteenth Century 'colombage' renovation in ideal spot with magnificent garden. This unique Sixteenth Century barn and its adjoining farmhouse have been fully restored and the property now merges beautifully in the landscape.

Rare indeed, this original Sixteenth Century 'colombage' barn has been fortunate to survive. It became illegal in France to make 'colombage' buildings in the middle of the Sixteenth Century as it was then considered to be a fire hazard and so no more were built.
Here though we have a marvellous lounge, it has a double height ceiling with all the original woodwork on show and is made all cosy by the wood burner situated in front of two full height, double glazed windows which flood the room with light.
Generous proportions, measuring 36m2, this is a wonderful place for entertaining! Particularly since there is access to the garden through the side, by the Chakra Window.

To enter the house is like stepping back in time, there is a porch (the last piece of the renovation, finished in November 2013) which is glazed with original old French windows and is the perfect place for wet dogs, and shoes and coats!

From there, you walk into the kitchen. This was the original part of the Farmhouse, built in the Nineteenth century (24M2) It still has the original brick bread oven opening (now bricked up with the actual oven long gone) and a fireplace which works. You can have an open fire or have a wood burner fitted, although in the winter, with the wood burner in the Barn going, and the doors all open, it is plenty warm enough! There is an inside tap which is very useful for gardening purposes or attaching a hosepipe! There are double windows at either end and the room is full of light.

Walking through to the 'middle room' which has had various incarnations:.it has been a treatment room, a second sitting room, a library, but now it is a proper dining room. Next to this is the bathroom which features a power shower and very large, two person bath!

Then through to the lounge, which is large and open and airy, full of magnificent features, having been there 400 years! All of the wood has been treated for woodworm and it is all sound and reconditioned. The space is wonderful to be in - cosy in the winter with the wood burner roaring and heating the whole house, and full of air and light in the summer with the big windows open. There are overhead crystal lights but usually the space is lit by soft lamps. Wonderful to be in!

Next to the magnificent old King Beam, is a wooden spiral staircase which leads up to the mezzanine, which has now been closed off and converted to bedroom space. The first part at present is an office, but it could be turned into a bedroom. There is also water up there so an en suite could be made too.

Then the second bedroom follows on from there, where there is a full length double window which looks out over the woods. There are roof windows in both rooms so it is always light and airy.

From the kitchen, out through the back door, there is a large enclosed private patio area, which can be used for outside dining. There is a barbecue stand where you can place your barbecue or use it for serving your food.

This leads out in to the magnificent garden, full of mature trees. There are mighty oaks, a stand of silver birch, beech trees, an ash and a great stand of conifers. The garden is full of little places to sit and read or relax. In the centre there is a fire pit, where many a merry evening has been had!

There, under the birch and ash trees, a Little House sits, where guests or family can stay. There is a lovely old French sleigh bed and there is electricity there, and a heater for those colder nights so you can lie in bed, open the doors and watch the fire or stars. Incomparable.

Next to it is another smaller patio, where you can dine under the trees or gather of drinks. And in front of the Little House is another patio - a sunbather's paradise!

Further up the garden there is 3m x 4m wooden building, currently being used as an artist's studio - (Perfect peace, trees and nature) but could easily accommodate a double bed and be used as a further bedroom.
Your very own woodland garden which will give you a beautiful place to spend your time and watch the seasons change!

This house is a joy. Fully renovated now, with nothing else to do - you can move in and begin to enjoy la belle vie de France!

Sitting in a small hamlet in the Loire Valley, this wonderful house has ROUVRES LES BOIS as the nearest village, which has a shop, restaurant (of a very renowned standard), a Post Office, a beautiful lake and a Church, and sits in the triangle created by the towns of VATAN, where there is direct access to the motorway from Paris to Toulouse, LEVROUX, a medieval Market Town with all the shops you'd need, cafes and a good local cultural scene, and VALENCAY where the most beautiful chateau is located.

It is the southernmost of the Loire Valley Chateaux and attracts thousands of visitors. It was owned by Talleyrand, Napoleon's Foreign Minister and it is lovingly preserved by the Commune. These three small French country town between them provide everything you need and if you want to access the big stores, then CHATEAUROUX (pop 50,000) is only a 40 minute drive away.

Around the area are many many walks, through woodlands along trails:..there are proper 'rambles', organised by locals if you feel so inclined. There are many fishing lakes too, where you can fish all day for 3 euros a day. An hour's drive away and you could be in the Brenne National Forest, famous for its lake and forests and wildlife.

If you like to go the City, then Tours, Blois and Bourges are within a couple of hours, with their history and monuments and Paris is only 1hr 20 minutes away by train.

There are an estimated 29,000 chateaux in France!! The most magnificent of these are all along the Loire which is an easy drive - about an in hour you can be there Chenonceau, Cherverny, Chinon, Azay - le Rideau, Chambord, these are just a few, and yours to see and wonder at. South, at Nohant is the chateau de Georges Sand and a puppet theatre.

It is also half way between the ferry ports and the South of France, and only 15 minute from the motorway. ' Just enjoy the house - spend time in the garden or explore the historic towns and villages, nearly all of which have markets and 'brocantes' on a Sunday morning.

The department of Indre is part of the Centre region of France along with, rather confusingly, Indre et Loire, Cher, Eure et Loir, Loir et Cher and Loiret, phew! we will be testing you on this later!

Its name comes from the river Indre which flows through the department. It was created like many departments during the French Revolution, on March 4th 1790, from the former French provinces, Berry and Touraine plus some areas of the Poitou-Charentes region.

This department attracts tourists thanks to the gorgeous Chateaux of the Loire valley, plus lots of natural unspoilt parkland that is ideal for fishing and hunting which is why Royalty loved it so much. The department is close to the Limousin region where you can also be seduced by the landscape.
