6 years ago, after traveling for 2 years through Africa, we decided to buy this beautiful 'Cortijo' (old olive farm) in Montefrio, right in the heart of Andalucia. Due to work obligations we now have to move to Amsterdam. That's sad, because since day 1 we enjoyed every minute of our time in Andalusia. We've seen around 90 countries in the world and can easily tell you that Montefrio and this cortijo are among the best places in the world to celebrate life.

Tremendous amount of space

First of all there's tremendous space, inside and around the house. Inside you'll enjoy 6 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms (including a huge Moroccan-style bath), 2 kitchens, with warm colors and lots of authentic elements. All together there are eleven rooms, all of them heated by a 100% ecologic and economic central heating system (using the olive pits of the surrounding farmers) for the winter months and there are also 3 wood burners/open fires.

Low costs and great for Bed & Breakfast

We bought the house from an English family that ran a Bed & Breakfast here and that's still a perfect option. The house is in good condition, has its own well for fresh and free water supply, good electricity, TV, telephone and 100% WIFI everywhere. Monthly service costs are low, including phone/Internet around 150 Euro.

Unbeatable view from the pool and patio

Outside there's spacious patio of 360 m2 with a beautiful almost 360 degrees view overlooking the valleys and olive fields around you. On the patio there's a very nice pool, a hammock place, an outside kitchen, a barbecue, paella cooker and over 50 m2 of lush garden for vegetables, palm and fruit trees. Outside the patio we have a large parking plot, where one of the rooms has its own entrance for guests. On this plot we placed a swing and a trampoline that we can leave for you, your guests or children. There's also an ecologic sewerage system, without costs.

Great for lovers of animals and sport

Do you love animals? That's great, because we have several cats and a lovely guarding dog and we prefer to leave them at their beloved home. Around the corner there are horse stables. The hill slopes, corn fields and fruit gardens around you provide for great rides.

Do you love sport? Around the house there's opportunity for lovely biking and hiking, where you can sometimes spot wild animals, like pigs, foxes or a deer and beautiful birds. Just 1000 meters away there's a nature reserve with beautiful archaeological findings. Within one hour you can be on top of the Siera Nevada. During summer one of the best hiking areas of Spain, during winter Spain's best resort for great skiing.

Most charming Andalucian village

Montefrio is the most charming, typical white Andalucian village that you can imagine. It's on the cover of most travel guides of Andalucia and a growing number of tourists are visiting. It has nice terraces, good events (such as the best saxophone festival of Spain and great flamenco performances), restaurants, churches, shops, a good hospital and - in case you have children - also a good school, that will collect (and bring back) your children with a school bus that comes close to your house. And most important: Montefrio has very lovely people, who will easily give you a warm welcome.

The city of Granada is on just 45 minutes distance. Here you and your guests can find the world-famous Alhambra, Arabic baths, great shopping streets, restaurants, flamenco events and an airport.
