Eixample was designed by Idelfons Cerda during the second half of the 19th century. It is characterized by its long and ample streets, for the design and layout of its blocks of buildings, known as 'manzanes' in Spanish, and for its flattened corners. Cerda's reason for incorporating the flattened corners was to allow for better visibility for circulating vehicles and for the incorporation of the gallery type balconies, usually home to upper-class families. Until this day, the Eixample is still a prestigious symbol of the city of Barcelona.
And of course, Barcelona is a city of inspiration. It is difficult not to fall in love with the city for there is something for everyone. With its golden beaches and majestic port, the mountains of Montjuic and Tibidabo, the gastronomic delights that can be found in the local markets and restaurants, its vibrant nightlife and incredible selection of bars, the ancient winding streets and buildings of cultural heritage, plus an abundance of museums and exposition halls. What better place to own a property!
