SummitCare Wallsend

At SummitCare Wallsend you will find a professional and highly experienced team that is passionate about creating an inclusive community and delivering quality support services – all against the backdrop of a beautiful and welcoming environment.

From the light-filled reception area through to the spacious hallways, cosy lounges and superior accommodation, every element is state of the art, and has been created with the utmost consideration for elegance, comfort and, ultimately, resident wellbeing.

Room options are single or twin configurations, and support including specialised dementia care services are available for 142 residents over two levels.

Residents and their loved ones enjoy relaxing and holding gatherings and barbecues in the external courtyard – the Rose Garden – with its attractive pergola, giant chess board and stunning landscaping. Inside, there are plenty of quiet nooks – for reading or more personal chats, while separate dining rooms are available in each unit giving extra privacy if required.

Residents quickly become part of a warm and welcoming community at Wallsend, and are encouraged to enjoy a wide range of recreational activities to suit their needs and interests, such as bus outings, bingo, group activities, craft, humour therapy, special event days, concerts from local school groups and pet therapy. Allied health services include physiotherapy, podiatry and speech pathology.

All meals are nutritious, designed by our dietician and freshly prepared on site. We also have a laundry on site, and a hairdresser, barber salon and nail artist are available each week.

SummitCare Wallsend is located within easy walking distance of bus stops, and plenty of parking is available.

Live the life you want to live at SummitCare Wallsend.

Wallsend Magnolia Unit

If you enjoy the finer things in life, then the gorgeous Magnolia unit at SummitCare Wallsend is the perfect option.

Magnolia is a 37-bed centre offering a luxurious lifestyle for those prepared to spend a little more. Our interior designer has selected a beautiful colour scheme, artwork and furnishings for each room in our range of spacious, air-conditioned accommodation, which is available in single or twin configurations.

Each is fitted with flat-screen televisions, computer access points, telephone and a nurse call system for peace of mind.

Natural light fills Magnolia during the day, and residents can take in views to Mt Sugarloaf from balconies and verandahs. Or perhaps you would prefer to enjoy your complimentary daily newspaper, socialise or watch TV in the common lounges, or relax in the fresh air in the private landscaped courtyard area. The choice is yours.

All this is enhanced by the exceptional support provided by our professional and warm staff – a hallmark of the award-winning SummitCare organisation.

Safety Information

SummitCare is committed to ensuring the safety of the residents, relatives, staff and volunteers in our centres. We hold a bi-monthly Work Health & Safety and Risk Management forum, and each centre has an appointed committee.

Fire Training

Our residential centres conduct fire training for all staff members through Emcorp. Staff are trained in the use of equipment such as fire extinguishers, evacuation and general handling of an emergency fire situation. Mock fire training is also conducted, where staff practice evacuating residents under similar conditions. Residents can be involved in this training, or they may elect not to be involved.

Outbreak Management

In the residential aged care environment, outbreaks of infectious disease sometimes occur, despite the rigorous infection-control principles that are applied throughout our centres. SummitCare utilises a strict outbreak management procedure to contain the spread of infection in these situations. During outbreaks, visiting is suspended so as not to spread the infection beyond the centre. Any outbreaks are reported to the public health unit and the Aged Care Standards and Accreditation Agency, as per our critical incident procedure.

HACCP

SummitCare kitchens are fully compliant with HACCP legislation. Food is prepared in accordance with the HACCP guidelines, as well as the Food Safety Standards of Australia.
