Birkirkara is a charismatic town located in the central area of Malta. It is very populous and hosts one of the most renowned colleges in Malta, St. Aloysius College. Birkirkara is full of interesting places to visit. The Old Railway Station, a memory from the past when Malta had a railway can be found in this town, with a beautiful public garden surrounding it. The Wignacourt Aqueduct is another place of interest, as well as St. Helen's Basilica, which is considered the most beautiful church in the region. This church is famous for having the largest church bell, installed in 1923. Birkirkara is one of the oldest towns in Malta mentioned in the 1436 Ecclesiastical Report which comments that the town had the largest parish. Birkirkara celebrates the feast of St. Helen on 18th of August each year, or on the first Sunday after the date if the 18th doesn't fall on a Sunday.
