The Turrialba Volcano can be seen from the house. Ash is not a problem here as the wind blows from the Atlantic towards the west, taking it away from the house and towards San Jose.

From the road nearby one can view the Caribbean coastline.

The Turrialba area is well-known for its excellent rafting, two nearby rivers are known across the world and are sometimes used as training grounds for worldclass rafters and kayakers.

There are many tour operators throughout the area offering fun-filled days trips for adventure seekers and families alike.

The Guayabo National Monument is not too far away and is a wonderful place to explore. As Costa Rica's only pre-Columbian site that is open to the public, these ruins provide a fantastic insight into the past.

The Center for Agronomy is a must-see for any avid naturalists, over 2000 acres of plants/trees from across the world.
