Opis:

The house is in the village of Dos Torres, a village of around 1500 inhabitants in the valley of the Pedroches, a charming and unspoilt region in the North of Cordoba province (around 45 minutes by car from Cordoba or one hour 15 minutes from Seville) consisting of 17 villages each with its own monuments, history and festivals. The surrounding area is largely rural and the main activity is cattle farming and olive production.

Dos Torres has a chaming central square with hotel and restaurant, village church (with its storks in residence!) and town hall. There is another meson and several bars. The village has several hermitages surrounding it, a moorish ice store, a roman bridge and a large municipal swimming pool, sports complex and bullring. The area is a UNESCO heritage zone.

The house is about 150 years old and is village townhouse within 5 minutes walk of the main square or open countryside. The house is on 2 floors with and covers 280m2 with a large south-facing patio area behind ( about 400m2) surrounded by stone walls. The first floor has stone walls and vaulted ceilings and arches with 4 vaulted rooms (including the large fire place) opening from the main corridor, and one with beamed ceiling. The dividing partitions have been removed lo leave a diaphanous space for development. Behind this further arches lead to a single storey area which would form an idea living area and which opens onto the patio. Stairs lead up to the large single area of the second floor which has the orginal terracotta floor tiles and a new roof and walls.

A new roof has been completed one year ago, using tradional methods including cane facing to the interior of the ground floor living room (see photo).

Architects plans for rennovation have been approved by the town hall and Junta de Andalucia (a process which can take several years) and include permission to install a swimming pool in the patio which has its own ample water supply via a well.

The general condition of the bulding is good and the roof new. The house needs complete rennovation including wiring and plumbing (we had an estimate of 75 000 Euros including installation of central heating and a pool).

There is no parking at the house but ample space is available in a small square about 100m away.

This is a beautiful, tranquil and unspoilt area of Spain and the house will make a wonderful retreat and should have excellent rental potential.

Unfortunately, changes in our circumstances mean we can no longer realise our dream but we hope someone else can and will!
