He then writes that ''The present dwelling at 79 Ashley Avenue is the second house built by Daniel Fairchild to stand on this lot. A previous dwelling, a three-story weatherboarded single house, was constructed shortly after acquisition of the lot in 1830. This house was shifted in the 1840s to make way for the present three-story stuccoed brick residence. The original house now at 75 Ashley Avenue retains its exterior features including a unique door architrave, which consist of Ionic pilasters supporting a carved wooden frieze featuring Grecian style acanthus leaves.''
